The Balance Sheet Manager addresses the compensation requirements for expatriate assignments where transferees continue to
participate in their home country compensation and benefits programs, but are provided with goods and services, transportation,
and housing differentials to compensate for cost-of-living differences between their home and host locations.
Data Sets
AIRINC’s Balance Sheet Manager is an online, subscription-based service. It delivers fair, defensible, and competitive recommendations for
approximately 5,000 unique home city to host city combinations, and provides
goods and services differentials,
host location rent and utilities recommendations,
host location transportation (automobile) costs, and
hypothetical home location income taxes.
The Balance Sheet Manager uses standard assumptions regarding the market basket of goods and services purchased in the host location,
expatriate housing standards, exchange rates, and home country income taxes. After ordering a data set for a specific home city to host city
(e.g., Paris to New York), each client's authorized users may access the Balance Sheet Manager to create international compensation
worksheets using different salary and family size assumptions. Once created, each worksheet is saved by the Balance Sheet Manager for future retrieval.
Worksheets may also be deleted. Using saved worksheets, users may reconstruct the history of an employee's compensation changes over the
course of the expatriate assignment
Enhanced Data Sets
For clients requiring more detailed information, AIRINC provides enhanced data sets, which provide all the information contained in the standard data set described above, plus
an AIRINC hardship report and recommendation (where applicable);
a housing by area grid containing detailed information about rental costs in different residential communities
and for different types of expatriate housing (apartments, houses, etc.) in each of the residential communities; and
an estimate of income taxes in the host location.
Updates
All data sets and saved worksheets are updated semi-annually to reflect new AIRINC pricing survey data and exchange rates. In addition,
AIRINC monitors exchange rates monthly and automatically updates all data sets and saved worksheets when there is an exchange rate change
of five percent or more. Clients’ authorized users are notified whenever an update takes place.
Worksheets
For a reduced fee, clients may purchase an individual worksheet in lieu of a data set. The individual worksheet is limited to one expatriate and
cannot be edited to reflect changes in salary or family size. The individual worksheet is also purchased as an annual subscription and is updated
on the same schedule as the data set for new survey information and exchange rate fluctuations.
