AIRINC Roundtable Series:
Controlling Expatriate Housing Costs 2009
Expatriate housing costs are by far the largest discretionary cost in an expatriate package, and generally dwarf the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA). Yet most companies to date have focused their energies on the COLA. This half-day roundtable will feature both AIRINC and corporate speaker and will focus on giving practical and actionable advice to practitioners. Open discussion and sharing of best practices will be encouraged throughout the seminar.Topics to be explored include:
Setting Realistic Housing Standards:
- How can you best align expectations of expatriates, Destination Service Providers and the Corporation?
- How can these standards be best communicated to all parties?
Minimizing Housing Exceptions:
- What roles should the regional offices take versus headquarters?
- Who is responsible for signing off on exception requests?
- Can you better incent expatriates with cost-savings programs?
Benchmarking:
- How does your spending in a select city stack up versus other Multinational Companies?
- Based on registrant interest and the size and composition of the group, all roundtable attendees will be asked to participate in a short benchmarking study on actual rental practice, and results will be highlighted in the seminar.
