The traditional full expatriate package is still used by many companies for long term assignments. However, many companies have added an alternative lower cost package to their mobility program. Alternative packages can be as simple as a reduced home-based balance sheet or in other cases a host or hybrid-based approach such as local plus, better of home or host, or lump sum approach.
